About Xpeng 

Xpeng or Xiaopeng Motors is a leading Chinese smart electric vehicle (“Smart EV”) company. It was founded in 2014 by Henry Xia (Xia Heng) and He Tao, and is headquartered in Guangzhou, China, with offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Silicon Valley and San Diego. Among the initial backers, we can name the former Alibaba executive He Xiaopeng – the current Chairman of Xpeng, and Lei Jun, the founder of  Xiaomi. Investors include Alibaba, Foxconn, and IDG Capital.

The Global Offering initially comprises 4,250,000 new Class A ordinary shares under the Hong Kong Public Offering and 80,750,000 new Class A ordinary shares for the international offering, representing approximately 5% and 95%, respectively, of the total number of Offer Shares in the Global Offering, subject to reallocation and over-allotment. 

Valuation 

Xpeng Motors has raised a total of $4.6B in funding over 9 rounds. Their latest funding was raised on Jan 11, 2021, from a Post-IPO Debt round. US-listed Xpeng Motors has a market capitalization of above $35 billion. 

Basic info about Xpeng Motors

• In 2019, Xiaomi joined as strategic investor 
• Following the 2020 US IPO which was priced at $23.10 Xpeng shares jumped as much as 222.46% hitting an all-time high of $74.49
• The Company plans to use the net proceeds from the Global Offering for expansion of its product portfolio and development of more advanced technologies as well as acceleration of its business expansion.
