Mixed markets at the beginning of the week - Monday Review, May 4

Motley market performance

The USA

The earnings season makes markets flutter, pushed by optimism over the relaxation of quarantine measures. USA30 gained 0.8%, while USA500 and TECH100 went up by 0.7% each.

Brent Oil went up 4.3% to $28.37 per barrel, while Oil rose $1.38 to $21.77 a barrel.

Gold fell 0.2% to $1,699 per ounce.

ICE dropped by 0.12%.


Asia and Australia

HongKong45 added 0.66%.

Australia’s ASX gained 1.26%

USD/JPY fell 0.11% to 106.62 after Japan extended the emergency state to May 31.

USD/CNY stood still at 7.0622, as the investors are confident about China restarting its economy.

AUD/USD gained 0.38% to 0.6451.


Europe

Germany30 lost 3.64% after a handful of economic sectors shed value. France40 was lower by 3.5%, while UK100 dropped 0.16%.

GBP/USD went up 0.16% to 1.2462.

EUR/USD lost 0.76% to 1.0900.

EUR/GBP dropped 0.16% to 0.8768.
