The repercussions of the US Capitol events continue. After multiple social media outlets suspended President Trump's accounts, and numerous QAnon accounts and merchandise have been removed, various companies started to take action against the members of Congress who were against Biden's certification.
Walmart, the largest retailer in the world, announced that its "political action committee is indefinitely suspending contributions to those members of Congress who voted against the lawful certification of state electoral college votes."
Disney joined Walmart in condemning Congress members for their opposition to certification, stating that "we have decided we will not make political contributions in 2021 to lawmakers who voted to reject the certification of the Electoral College votes."
But they are not the first companies to react. The movement includes AT&T, Amazon, MasterCard, which paused their political contributions after the events.
While the companies mentioned above targeted only those who opposed certification, Google, United Pacific Corp, and JP Morgan are withholding all Congress members' contributions.
Following the news, Walmart stock price fell 0.09%, while Disney added 0.31%.
