Google Maps will have a COVID-19 related feature

Even though the #pandemic seems to go nowhere, some companies are considering solutions to make the transition from work-from-home to work-from-office easier.

After it announced that its employees could work remotely until July 2021, Google is now rethinking its long-term options for its employees, given the fact that they don’t want to return to office full-time. According to the latest survey released by Google, 62% of its employees are willing to go back to the office but not daily. Therefore, Google started developing a "hybrid" working model, including office rearrangements and long-term remote work options.

However, Google is not the first #Silicon Valley company that considered different models of remote work. Facebook's employees can work from home through July 2021, and Twitter’s employees can work remotely “forever.”

Besides the future way of working, Google announced a brand-new feature in Google Maps. It will show the number of #COVID-19 infections in a specific geographic region. The data will be collected from Johns Hopkins, New York Times, and Wikipedia. The feature will be available in 220 countries and territories, will be color-coded by severity, and will show the average weekly news cases per 100,000 people. Google will implement it in the upcoming days.

Yesterday, following the news, Google stock price fell by more than 3.40%. During today's pre-market session, it went up 0.27%.
