The presidential election entered a new phase on Wednesday as Joe Biden was declared the winner of Michigan and Wisconsin, two key swing states that President Trump won in 2016. Trump’s chances of winning a second term depend on his ability to hang on to the lead he has on Biden in states like Georgia and Pennsylvania. However, the former Vice President has been narrowing the gap in those states as vote counting progresses.
Lawyers for the Trump campaign have begun to take legal action to prevent former Vice President Joe Biden from reaching the 270 electoral votes needed to win the election. The lawsuits, filed Wednesday, contest ballot counting in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Georgia. According to CBS News Biden has won Michigan, a state in which Donald Trump has won in 2016. Pennsylvania and Georgia remain too close to call.
