The downward trend of the US unemployment claims gains momentum, according to the latest data

According to the US Department of Labor, 444,000 people filed for the first time for unemployment in the past week. The figures came ahead of the 453,000 expected, marking a new pandemic-era low. During the same time last year, claims topped 2.3 million.

The jobs picture continues to improve due to the accelerated economic reopening across the country. Moreover, the US administers 1.8 million vaccine shots daily, spurring the economic rebound. Still, Federal Reserve officials continue to call for more improvement in the labor market.

At the moment of writing, USA500 is trading 0.06% higher, and the Dollar Index is at 90.005.
