"With the world at such a critical crossroads, this year we must develop a 'Davos Manifesto 2020' to reimagine the purpose and scorecards for companies and governments," said WEF founder Klaus Schwab as an introduction to WEF 2020.
US President Donald Trump and environmental activist Greta Thunberg are among the top names to appear in the spotlight, as this edition of WEF is centered around the theme "Stakeholders for a Cohesive and Sustainable World."
Tickets are invite-only and very pricey for businesses. Membership of the WEF starts from $60,000, and there's an additional fee of around $27,000 to get into the conference.
Other big political names, such as Angela Merkel (Federal Chancellor of Germany), Giuseppe Conte (Prime Minister of Italy), and Ursula von der Leyen (President of the European Commission) will take part to this event. They will be joined by leaders from international organizations such as the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, or Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and also by leaders from civil society and key cultural figures. The official conference schedule includes speeches, debates, performances, and special events.
The World Economic Forum has had its fair amount of critics during the years. Many of those have argued that little has been done to improve the world. WFE runs from 21-24 Jan.
