The future looks dark, but a silver lining might be in sight

Coronavirus pandemic didn't come as a surprise considering how fast it spread, but it is a surprise that it is said to last 18 months or even more, a report obtained by CNN shows.

A 100-page document was released as Donald Trump announced a state of emergency. The Coronavirus pandemic will last 18 months or more, could come in several waves and cause critical shortages of medicines, equipment, and staff, the government has been warned.

Hospitals have already sounded the alarm on quickly vanishing supplies as the outbreak in the US shows no signs of slowing -- in just 24 hours, cases soared by more than 40%.

The US government announced this week it would help make up for potential medical supply shortages and deploy two hospital ships to help increase medical capacity.

To slow the spread of the virus, governors across the country sprung into action this week, implementing drastic measures such as shutting down schools, transitioning bars, and restaurants to only take-out services and putting a ban on mass gatherings.

Nearly 9,000 Americans have tested positive for the virus. At least 149 have died.

President Donald Trump stated that the virus could drive up the unemployment rate to 20 percent, a level not seen since 1935.

Considering how the market behaved in the past couple of months since the virus slowly took over the world, economists for Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley say that a global recession has likely already begun, with the only question remaining how severe the pullback will be, and how long it will last.

The fight against COVID-19 is global, but at the moment, the only positive response came from the very own place that started this. China has greenlit the start of clinical trials on a Coronavirus vaccine — developed by researchers led by a biowarfare expert from ground zero of the pandemic.

The National Medical Products Administration approved on Tuesday the tests for the country’s first COVID-19 vaccine, which was created by the Academy of Military Medical Sciences in Wuhan. Since arriving on Jan. 26 in Wuhan, the researchers have been racing to find a vaccine to protect people from the deadly virus.

The virus has spread worldwide to more than 200,000 people, causing more than 8,000 deaths, according to the latest figures from Johns Hopkins University.

Moreover, traders should keep in mind that during this time, markets experience massive degrees of volatility. Analysts recommend keeping an eye on Indices, Forex, Commodities.
